What to change
A short list, the change most likely to help first, each with why, how, and one button to the right place.
Check shows the first three changes. All 3 with steps (or What to change in the sidebar, ⌘2) shows each one as a card:
- Why it’s here: Most likely to help, Worth knowing or Apple recommends.
- Where: On this Mac, On your router or With your provider.
- What to do, and why, with the numbers just measured.
- How: two or three steps, naming the exact place to click.
- Source: where a recommendation comes from, such as Apple’s own guidance, when it’s published.
- One button to the right place.
When nothing is off: Nothing to change. “Your Wi-Fi and internet are within every threshold. Check again whenever something feels slow.”
What the buttons do
Plain Air never changes a setting itself, and never logs in to your router. Its buttons only open a place, and you make the change.
- Open your router’s settings: opens your router’s own page in your browser.
- Open AirDrop settings, Open Wi-Fi settings, Open Network settings and Open Location Services: open that part of System Settings.
- Open the sign-in page: opens a page in your browser, so a hotel, train or café network can show its sign-in page.
- Make a report: opens the report, with the times your provider will ask for.
After a change, press Check Again (⌘R) to see whether it helped. Every change Plain Air may suggest, step by step: Every answer Plain Air can give.
