Settings
General and Watching. Everything that runs in the background is off until you turn it on.
Open Plain Air › Settings (⌘,).
General
- Show my network’s name: Allow Location, or Open Location Services if Location is off on your Mac, or Allowed. “Plain Air never asks where you are.” Why Plain Air asks about Location
- Unlock: Unlock, and Restore Purchase. Once unlocked: “Plain Air is unlocked. Thank you.” What does it cost?
- What Plain Air talks to: your router, your Mac’s DNS server and Apple’s check page. Nothing else, and nothing to us. Test Speed uses macOS’s own test, only when you press it.
Watching
“All off until you turn them on”:
- Keep watching when closed: a quiet log of drops, roams and outages: about 13 small packets every 30 seconds, no scans. Keep watching
- Show in the menu bar: the glyph, and a word when something is off. Plain Air in the menu bar
- Open at login: only matters if watching or the menu bar is on.
Keep watching and the menu bar come with the unlock.
