Games
Apple will keep part of Rosetta for certain older games, but hasn’t said which. Vernacular never guesses.
A game made only for Intel processors gets its own verdict:
A GAME · INTEL ONLY “Apple will keep part of Rosetta for certain older games. It hasn’t said which, so Lantern Keeper may or may not keep working.”
Its lane says “May stop: a game, Intel only.”
Vernacular knows it’s a game because the game says so: its maker filed it under Games. A game made for Apple silicon simply runs natively. A game that doesn’t say it’s a game gets the same verdict as any other app: WON’T OPEN AFTER macOS 27.
Vernacular doesn’t predict which games Apple will keep: Apple hasn’t said. In Apple’s words, from macOS 28 Rosetta “will be available only for certain older, unmaintained games that rely on Intel-based frameworks.” Apple’s own words on Rosetta
What to do
- Choose Check for Updates in the game, or look on the developer’s site. For a game from the App Store, update it there when a new version arrives.
- Read again here. A new version shows as running natively.
- If there isn’t one, it keeps working while this Mac stays on macOS 27.
