Copies of the same app
Vernacular finds more than one copy of an app, and builds from your own projects. With the unlock, see them side by side.
Vernacular counts each app once, however many copies you have. When it finds another copy, the app’s page says so: “You have two copies: 3.2 here and 3.1 in Old versions.”
It finds copies in the folders it reads, and copies elsewhere that macOS knows about, such as one left in Downloads. A copy in a folder Vernacular can’t read shows Version unknown.
Builds from your own projects
If you make apps, Vernacular tells your own builds apart from copies: “You also have two builds of Wayfarer from your own projects, outside Applications.” They’re never called copies.
Copies, with the unlock
Copies in the sidebar shows each app with more than one copy, side by side: its version, where it is (“In Old versions”, “In Downloads”, or “A build from your own project, in Documents”), Show in Finder, and for copies in the Applications folder, Move to the Trash. Move an app to the Trash
Until then, Copies carries a lock and says how many apps have more than one copy. What does it cost?
