Where a download came from
The site, the app that saved it and the day, as macOS recorded them.
When a file arrives, macOS often notes the address it came from and the app that saved it. Rolltop reads those notes; it doesn't look anything up.
- The site shows when macOS recorded an address. A browser usually records one; chat apps and AirDrop usually don't.
- The app that saved it is in words: "Saved by Chrome", "Saved from Slack", "Sent by AirDrop", "Saved from an email in Mail".
- A temporary link is one that carried a signature in its address. It has expired by now, so the file may be your only copy.
- No record: some files have no note at all (copied from a disk, made on this Mac). Rolltop says what it can, such as the kind of file and its dates.
A file stored only in iCloud isn't downloaded or read.
