You have another copy, or your only copy
What each verdict means, and the facts Rolltop needs before it says one.
Rolltop only says what it can check on your Mac. Every verdict comes with its reason.
- You have another copy (a filled dot), only when another file is the same byte for byte, when a zip's contents are all in the folder beside it, or when an installer's app is in Applications. For two files the same, the verdict goes on the copy (the one named like "(1)"), never on both.
- This may be your only copy (an outlined dot), when the link it came from was a temporary one, so it has expired, or when it came from this Mac or your network.
- Your call (a grey dot), with where it may still be: sent to you in a chat app or by email (it may still be in Slack or Mail, with the message it came in), sent by AirDrop (whoever sent it may still have it), from a site you can probably download it from again, or one that needs a sign-in. Otherwise just Your call.
- Keep it somewhere safer: a private key. Private keys in Downloads
Rolltop doesn't judge what's inside a file, and never checks whether a link still works: it can't reach the internet. Where a download came from
