Releases

Will a release break my app?

Porchlight quotes the breaking line and shows where your code meets it.

Porchlight reads every release of the libraries your app uses, from the version you run to the latest, and groups them ("Stripe SDK 23.x · 22.6.2 → 23.0.1").

  • Breaks you: a line in the release says something breaks, Porchlight found it word for word, and your code uses what it names. You'll see the file and line, and Open … at line N.
  • Needs a look: a major version, or a breaking line Porchlight couldn't match to your code.
  • Doesn't touch you: nothing in it names code you use.

Porchlight needs your repo to match code. Without it, it says "Porchlight hasn't read your code to check." Release impact against your code is part of the unlock. What does it cost?
