Get started with Cachet

Cachet finds space on your Mac you can safely get back, and explains each item before anything moves.

Steps

1. Open Cachet. The Welcome screen explains what it does.
2. Click Choose Home Folder… and choose your home folder (the one with your name) in the Open dialog. Cachet asks once and remembers it. Why it needs your home folder.
3. Cachet scans. It takes from a few seconds to a minute, depending on how much is on your Mac.
4. The Overview shows how much is free, what's using the rest, and what you can get back.
5. Open a category in the sidebar to see each item, or click Review One by One to go through them in turn.
6. When you're ready, click Clean (or Move to Trash in a category). Cachet asks you to confirm, then moves the ticked items to the Trash.
