What is "Cachet's guess · on-device AI"?
For some folders Cachet suggests which app made them, using Apple's AI on your Mac.
Some folders in Caches and Logs are named in a way that doesn't say which app made them. For those, Cachet asks Apple's on-device language model to suggest the app and what the folder holds, and shows the answer labelled Cachet's guess · on-device AI.
- It runs entirely on your Mac. Only the folder's name and location are used, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- It's a suggestion only. It never changes the confidence label or what's ticked.
- It needs a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence. On other Macs the guess simply doesn't appear.
